  • Contributing (includes family members): $50

  • Sustaining (includes family members): $100

The East Cascades Audubon Society (ECAS) is an independent chapter of the National Audubon Society, and dues to National Audubon do not support our wide range of field trips, meetings, research, surveys, restoration projects, and other activities.

To help sustain and contribute to the growth of our local activities, please join ECAS as a local member. As an ECAS member, you will receive a copy of our quarterly newsletter and can easily become involved in our many activities. Your membership will actively support a growing conservation organization and help support birds, their habitats and birding in Central Oregon. Because ECAS is a section 501(c)(3) organization, your membership dues and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Here are some benefits of becoming a member of East Cascades Audubon Society:

  • Support ECAS mission and goals:  East Cascades Audubon Society was organized for the charitable, educational and scientific purpose of wild bird study and conservation through engaging the public in volunteer field studies, educational programs and the supporting of projects that further the knowledge and appreciation of wild birds and their habitat.  Your membership in ECAS helps support these goals.

  • Meetings and Events:  We meet at the Environmental Center in Bend on the third Thursday of most months.  We host local and national speakers on topics about birds and other wildlife.  We also share information about local birds and activities.  There is no cost to attend any of our meetings.

  • Education and Field Trips:  ECAS volunteers lead many fun and free field trips each year.  This is an opportunity to become acquainted with local birding sites and to improve birding skills while visiting some beautiful Central Oregon habitats.  Shorter informal trips take place most Wednesday mornings, while “Birding By Ear” classes take place in a local park in the spring.  “Birding for Preschoolers” is a program designed for young birders to learn about nature through exploration, observation and questioning.

  • Projects: ECAS sponsors a number of citizen science projects and surveys such as nest box projects for Lewis’s Woodpeckers, Kestrels and Bluebirds. We also sponsor a statewide Winter Raptor Survey and our Green Ridge raptor migration counts each Autumn.

  • Festivals:  Among other festivals that we sponsor throughout the year, our Dean Hale Woodpecker Festival in June, which celebrates our 11 nesting Woodpecker species, has attracted people around Oregon and throughout the country.

  • Newsletters:  Members receive monthly e-newsletters.  The “Chatter” is our brief monthly newsletter, which has information about upcoming events.  The “Calliope” is our quarterly comprehensive e-newsletter.

  • Meet others interested in birds:  Joining ECAS is the perfect way to meet people interested in learning about wild birds.  Our enthusiastic members enjoy teaching beginners and sharing knowledge with people of all ages.
