Pinyon Jay Banding
Kevin Smith, who lives at Crooked River Ranch, started wondering about the movement of Pinyon Jays in the area and  recruited Ken Hashagen to help in the study. Since there are sizable flocks  in Sisters as well as CRR, these seemed like  good places to start.  They have continues to band in both places using color coded bands that are site specific.  They hope to be able to determine if there is significant movement in the area of these birds.
