Location

Twin Tunnels Info

Mosier is located off of I84 6 miles east of Hood River and 14 miles west of The Dalles. Take the Mosier exit (Exit 69) off of I84 and turn right at the end of the off ramp. At the base of the bridge turn left and circle under the bridge. The Trailhead parking is about 1 mile on the left. This is Mark Hatfield East Trailhead which is part of the Oregon State Parks and requires a daily parking permit.

This five mile trail parallels the Columbia River and I84 between Hood River and Mosier. The eastern 2 miles of the trail are in Wasco County. The east tunnel is about 1 mile from the trailhead.

Habitat and Birds

This site is primarily upland habitat in an east/west transition zone. Migrants should be expected and locals like Black-capped Chickadee, Bewick’s Wren, Spotted Towhee, California Scrub Jay, etc. are year round residents. You can view the river from here and find rafts of ducks, grebes, and loons.
