ECAS offers birding field trips to local hot spots throughout the year. Some are held weekly; others are seasonal, or may be one-time events. While they vary in duration from a few hours to several days, all are free of charge.

Answers to common field trip registration questions:
- Registration opens at least two weeks before all short, local trips. Trips are announced in advance of the opening of registration on the ECAS website and The Chatter monthly e-bulletin.
- ECAS members receive registration invitations via email; make sure ECAS has your current email address. Missing an invitation? Be sure to check your spam or junk folders.
- Trip participantion may be capped and trips often fill quickly. Use the email contact in the trip description to be placed on a waitlist.
- Dog owners, please read the ECAS dog policy for programs, projects, and field trips.
- Please contact the field trip leader if you need to cancel. You can do this by opening your registration confirmation email and changing your RSVP to NO, or by emailing the leader directly. No-shows without explanation will be removed from subsequent field trip mailing lists.

We’re always on the lookout for leaders for additional bird outings. Contact ECAS at ecaudubon@gmail.com if you have an idea for a trip. And if leading a trip solo is a little daunting, don’t let that stop you. Our field trip coordinator can assist in finding a co-leader for you.
Other regional bird walks
Volunteers from the Crooked River Wetlands and Prineville Bird Club sponsor monthly bird walks at the wetlands in Prineville on the first Saturday of the month, and on the first and third Saturdays during the warm months. From May through October, participants meet at 7:45 a.m. in the parking area with the two-hour walk beginning at 8 a.m. From November through April, the group meets at 9:45 a.m. and the walk starts at 10:00 a.m. There are a couple of seats on golf carts for those needing some help getting around; loaner binoculars are also available. No registration is required.
Bird walks are also offered by the Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory, the Deschutes Land Trust, and Think Wild Wildlife Hospital and Conservation Center. Consult their websites for more information.
