Habitat and Birds

This series of old clearcuts can be productive as a woodpecker site.  Black-backed, American Three-toed, Hairy, Williamson’s Sapsucker, Lewis’s and other woodpeckers are here.  Listen for Olive-sided Flycatcher, Hammond’s Flycatcher and Hermit Warbler along with the common forest species.  Other common clearcut species include House Wren, Mt. Bluebird, and Wilson’s Warbler.  Pacific Wrens and Varied Thrush lurk in the shadows.
