Location

Go to the  Oregon Birding Trails Website.  Choose the Oregon Coast Birding Trail. Click on the South Coast tab and go to section 113.  From Highway 101 just North of Coquille River Bridge, turn East on to North Bank Road.  In 1 mile, turn R in to overlook area.

Habitat and Birds

This area has fresh and saltwater marshes.  Regularly seen raptors include Peregrine Falcon, Merlin, Bald Eagle, White-tailed Kite, Northern Harrier, Sharp-shinned, Cooper’s, Red-shouldered, and Red-tailed Hawk. Winter songbirds include Black Phoebe, Palm Warbler, Marsh Wren, Savannah Sparrow, Lapland Longspur, and Western Meadowlark. Summer brings clouds of Tree, Violet-green, Barn, and Northern Rough-winged Swallow, and the occasional Vaux’s Swift.  Many winters short eared owls can be seen.
