Location

From Sisters, drive west on Hwy 20/126 and turn right, (north), on Road 11, to Road 1170, and turn left on to Road 64.

Coming from Culver, take Highland Lane and follow the signs to the Cove Palisades State Park.  Drive all the way through the canyon and come up the west side.  You will soon come to the Chinook Store.  From the store, stay on Jordon Road as it runs north, then west, then north again.  Turn left on Graham Road and take it west for several miles to the campground.

It is near the mouth of the Metolius River where it flows into Lake Billy Chinook. A beautiful campground with large ponderosa trees, boat ramp, and scenic setting.

Amenities and Birds: Perry South Campground has birding, car camping, hiking, picnicking, photography and a boat launch. Campsites with restrooms.

Habitat and Birds

Birds seen here include California Gull, Osprey,  Mountain Quail, W. Screech- owl, N. Pygmy-owl, Common Poorwill, Vaux’s Swift, Lewis’s Woodpecker, Logger- head Shrike, Pinyon Jay and Clark’s Nutcracker along with other more common species.
