Location

From I-5 take 119 exit (Hwy 42) west about 13.3 miles (MP 63.8). Turn left on Benedict Road for 1.2 miles. Go right on Ireland Road for 0.9 miles. Turn left on Berry Creek Road. At 1.3 miles there is a large pulloff where you can scope the upper end of the lake. The road follows the lake another 1.2 miles where it ends at the boat ramp. There is a small picnic area before the boat ramp

Habitat and Birds

This is a narrow reservoir. The dam area cannot be viewed without a boat. The best area is the upper end where plenty of waterfowl and Double-crested Cormorants hang out. The surrounding area has conifer/hardwood mixed forest sprinkled among the ranchland. There are some low-traffic country roads (such as Olalla Road) in the area you can explore after you finish the reservoir

Rufous Hummingbird, Bullock’s Oriole, numerous swallows, Lazuli Bunting, Black Phoebe
