HWY 20 TO THE CASCADES County

Open water on the small ponds attracts a wide variety of waterfowl, and the brushy and wooded areas around the ponds support raptors and passerines. Over 100 species have been reported from the park.

Open water with forested edges. Common Goldeneye, Bufflehead, Common Merganser and Lesser Scaup are common, and Barrow’s Goldeneye, Long-tailed Duck, scoters and loons can sometimes be found.

A trail from the campground allows limited access to the Breitenbush river. Look for Comon Merganser, Harlequin Duck, Common Merganser, American Dipper, Belted Kingfisher and Spotted Sandpiper along the river.
